Helios School IQ Testing: WPPSI-IV and WISC-V

Helios School in Sunnyvale asks applicants to submit a complete Wechsler cognitive assessment. Testing is done here by a Licensed Educational Psychologist, and every report includes all subtests and the General Ability Index that Helios requires.

What Helios requires

Required for K through 8 applicants
Helios School asks all applicants to submit results from a Wechsler intelligence scale as part of the admissions application.
Under age 6: WPPSI-IV
Younger children take the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence, Fourth Edition.
Age 6 and older: WISC-V
Older children take the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fifth Edition. The right test depends on your child's age at the time of testing.
All subtests, indexes, and the General Ability Index
Helios requires a complete assessment: all subtests, the Verbal Comprehension, Visual Spatial, Fluid Reasoning, Working Memory, and Processing Speed indexes, the Full Scale IQ, and the General Ability Index (GAI). Every report here includes all of these.
No minimum score
Helios does not have a minimum Full Scale IQ requirement for applicants. The assessment must be administered in the United States, in English, and include all subtests.

Key dates

Guarantee deadline (grades K through 4): November 5, 2026
Testing submitted by this date is guaranteed to be reviewed for grades K through 4. Your child's cognitive assessment results are part of the application, so plan to test well before then.
Regular deadline (grades K through 8): January 7, 2027
The regular application deadline for grades K through 8. Reports are submitted as an unlocked PDF through Ravenna or directly to the Helios admissions office.
